This tool allows user to participate in threaded, online discussions, sometimes referred to as a bulletin board or discussion group.  Some of the features of the Forums tool include: Hierarchical storage of messages under each thread. Any message, at any level within a thread can be replied to, creating a tree-like structure of messages, making it easy for the user to see the logical flow of the thread and any subtopics that have been started within the thread. Advanced interface for viewing the body of a message, and any of the content from previous message that has been replied to. This makes it easier for users to see all relevant information for a single message without having to scroll through multiple messages on the same screen. Section owners and administrators can enable or disable the ability for anonymous users to post messages (i.e. users who have not logged in or who do not have accounts). Section owners and administrators can enable or disable the requirement for the Forums tool to be moderated, meaning that an administrator, section owner, or Forums tool manager must approve a message before it becomes visible to other users. If a Forum is moderated, owners and tool managers can be emailed when new threads are started. Users can subscribe to specific threads within the Forums tool for a section.
