Client Software
- nTreePoint is a fully web-based application, meaning that there is no thick client (desktop software) to install on the desktops of all your content managers and administrators. This reduces your Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) considerably, since you will never have to manage multiple installations of software or patches across your organization, nor will you encounter operating system-specific issues on the client common to desktop software.
- For end users, all that is necessary is a version 4+ Web browser on any platform. If the user will have an account and will be logging in, they will need to have JavaScript enabled, as well as per-session cookies (which are not stored on the user's computer; they exist only until the user closes the browser). For content managers, IE 5.5 or higher is recommended to fully take advantage of rich built-in HTML editing.
Server Software
The server(s) on which nTreePoint will be installed have the following requirements:
- Windows 2000 or 2003 (Server or Advanced Server)
- Optional: Microsoft SQL Server 2000 (Standard or Enterprise)
Notes:
- The nTreePoint setup program includes a compatible substitute for Microsoft SQL Server that can be used for customers who do not have a Microsoft SQL Server license or who wish to evaluate the software or determine their need for a licensed copy of Microsoft SQL Server before purchasing the license.
If customers start out with this option, they can, at any time, upgrade to a full version of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 without affecting the application data; however, customers should note that this option imposes a limit of 2GB per database. The nTreePoint application uses one database for the contents of files added to the Documents tool, and another database for all other application data. Since neither of these databases can exceed the 2GB limit, should the customer require more storage, they would need to upgrade to a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 license.
- If customers are using Microsoft SQL Server 2000, they need to be aware of the licensing issues that may affect them, depending on their intended use of nTreePoint. For more information about licensing Microsoft SQL Server, visit the following site:
